D1N: information as a place to explore
D1N translated campus and neighborhood information into an illustrated, animated lobby experience. A location-based comic-book interface brought together navigation, transit arrivals and nearby events, with ways to carry information from the screen to a phone.
Steven’s March 2016 portfolio describes work across information design, interface and experience design, solution architecture and project coordination. Useful information became part of arriving at and moving through a workplace.
Wainwright Digital Salon
Steven’s portfolio describes a permanent street-facing installation of 22 screens, adaptable photography, backlit light boxes and interactive window markers on Amazon’s Seattle campus. Humor, history and animal imagery brought visual composition into the movement and attention of people outside the building.
The portfolio calls this project the Wainwright Digital Salon. The CV separately records a 2015 Light Box Mural for the Wainwright Building; these source titles are retained without assigning every element of one record to the other.
Workplace experience strategy and UX research
The work also included a UX lab for testing interfaces and human-computer interaction. Steven’s portfolio describes a digital-workplace strategy developed through stakeholder needs, technology assessment and preliminary experience designs. The contribution concerned how people use information and services across a workplace.
The portfolio describes a selection in 2014, while the CV dates an Amazon Experience Campus Masterplan to 2016. These records document strategy and project phases; the whole proposed roadmap is not presented as a completed installation.
