What Would Portland Do.ai · an experiment in participating with AI characters.
Explore the WorkMap and place
What Would Portland Do.ai, also called Generative Agent Moment Experience, explores how a person can participate in a situation with AI characters. A participant introduces a situation or intention; characters respond through their different personas. The project favors short interactive moments and one-to-one conversations over watching a long simulation unfold. The map and spatial layout below show the visual world developed around that idea.

In the wider practice
The public project repository identifies WWPD as a Portland State University computer-science capstone from 2023–2024 and credits Steven with its background art. His project account describes leading students working on a community of language-model characters. The student-team collaboration brings his interest in participatory environments into an interactive software project.
A moment with an AI character
The interface joins persona-based responses with an environment a participant can explore. The documented implementation uses React and external AI and data services. The illustrated floor and map are concept designs for that experience, rather than evidence that every pictured environment was built.
